Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. The population of the city exceeds 1 million 200 thousand inhabitants. It is located on the banks of the Volga River. Walking around Kazan, you can find a myriad of sights, cultural and architectural monuments, educational institutions.
The city's economy is represented by trade, service, construction, aviation, petrochemical industries.
Large highways pass through the settlement: the federal highway M-7 "Volga", P239, P241, P175, P242. There is a large railway junction, two stations. There is an air and river port.
City history
When the city was founded, it is not known for certain, but according to the consensus version of historians, this happened in 1005. In the XIII-XIV centuries Kazan was a pearl in the Golden Horde, and in 1438 it acquired its own khan and became the capital of the Kazan Khanate. But not for long. In 1552, Kazan was conquered by Ivan the Terrible, and in 1556 the construction of a white-stone Kremlin began.
Since 1708, the city has been the center of the Kazan province. And after the Great October Revolution, Kazan became the capital of the Tatar ASSR. During the Great Patriotic War, Kazan became a center for the combination of science and industry. 139 Kazan enterprises were transferred "to the military track", another 70 enterprises were evacuated here from the west of the country. On July 2, 2020, Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded Kazan the title of "City of Labor Valor". Now Kazan is considered not only the third capital of Russia, but also sports and gastronomic.
